The pretty town of Frigiliana is often included in the ‘Spain’s most beautiful locations’ lists, overlooking the coastline from it’s perch in the mountains. Frigiliana is a whitewashed town with stunning vistas across the Mediterranean and also of course, the surrounding mountains.

Inside the town, enchanting streets wind past colourfully-painted doorways into traditional Spanish homes, most of which have long been renovated into modern residential properties or vacation homes.

The streets are filled with cafes and bars, and of course souvenir shops so that you can buy something to remind you of your visit.

This quiet little village sits just outside Nerja to the east, it’s probably most famous for the famous Nerja Caves, outlined below. The village is pretty and traditional in style, with the touches that remind us where we are, on the beautiful Mediterranean coast, with decorative ceramic street signs, sea views and an attractive square.

Declared a ‘Site of Cultural Interest’ in Spain in 2006, these caves are a stunning natural wonder and a ‘must-visit’ site in Nerja!

Located 158 meters above sea level and spanning an incredible 4,823 meters, Nerja Caves are some of Andalusia’s most extensive – with three different entrances: two subcircular sinkholes and, close to them, an entry opened for visitor access in 1960 (a year after its discovery).
